50 Cent “Ain’t Jackin” Courtney Kemp’s Alleged ‘Power’ Inspired Series

50 Cent is not here for what’s being called “a Power reunion”—especially when it doesn’t have his stamp of approval or anyone he knows.

The iconic rapper and executive producer took to Instagram to let it be known that he’s less than thrilled with Power co-creator Courtney A. Kemp’s upcoming Netflix series Nemesis—which is presumably “inspired” by the original STARZ hit. And while the new show does star Power alum Shane Johnson, who played Cooper Saxe, that wasn’t enough to impress Fif.

“Nah this ain’t it,” he wrote under a post about the project. “A Power reunion with one cast member? I don’t know none of these [ninja emoji]s. Ain’t nobody jackin this sh*t! LOL.” Shane Johnson, trying to keep it playful, slid into the comments with, “Yeah, but bro… we’re talking SAXE! That’s enough, man!”

As for Nemesis, the show’s logline reads: “‘Nemesis’ is the story of two men on either side of the law, the tale of what happens when an unstoppable force (an expert criminal) meets an immovable object (a brilliant police detective). What starts as a series that aims to subvert the heist genre at every turn — amped with thrilling life-or-death stakes, family dynamics and explosive action — actually gives birth to an exploration of what drives us, sustains us, and ultimately destroys us.”

Speaking of the show’s creation, Kemp told Variety, “Tani and I are excited to bring a hard-hitting psychological crime drama to Netflix, specific in location, but broad in universal themes of right and wrong, love and loss, and loyalty vs self-preservation. We are grateful to Bela, Peter and Jinny for their support, keeping this production in Los Angeles and getting local crews back to work.”

Alongside Johnson, the cast includes Matthew Law, Y’Ian Noel, Cleopatra Coleman, Gabrielle Dennis, Michael Potts, and others.

Meanwhile, 50 has his own Power plans still percolating. He previously teased Power Origins, a prequel series focused on young Ghost and Tommy, and made it clear the Power Universe isn’t slowing down anytime soon. “You haven’t seen the last of Tommy,” he wrote last year while hyping up Force and the expansion of his crime series.

“You asked, I answered. Young Ghost and Tommy coming your way. Power Origins now in development,” he teased. However, there have not been any other updates on the show’s progress.
