50 Cent can’t seem to miss when it comes to TV & film. Den of Thieves 2: Pantera, which 50 produced, has landed atop the domestic box office, Variety reports. Den of Thieves 2: Pantera raked in $5.8 million on its opening day from 3,008 theaters. The opening day numbers mirror those of its predecessor, as Den of Thieves 1 raked in $5.6 million at the box office on its opening day back in January 2018.
With the early success of Pantera, Lionsgate Studios has now received their first No. 1 film since 2023’s The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes. Den of Thieves 2’s success is also a good sign that the film will manage to recoup it’s humble $40 million production budget and then some, as the studio is confident that the movie will have a steady draw at the January box office.
And you know, Fiddy had something to say about this success. Taking to his Instagram, the entrepreneur reveled in the movie’s success and reign at the No. 1 spot on the domestic charts. “This is the one to go see, dinner and movie Den of Thieves 2. BOOM,” his caption read, followed by another post that read, “Den of Thieves 2 No. 1 in theaters what a way to start 2025.”
Den of Thieves 2: Pantera picks up where the first film left off, with O’Shea Jackson Jr. and Gerard Butler reprising their roles as Donnie and Big Nick, respectively. The film follows Nick hot on the trail of infamous diamond thief Donnie, who is now pulling a heist in Europe. However, this time, Big Nick isn’t trying to prevent Donnie from executing his heist—he wants in.
