In an interview with ENCA regarding the ongoing case, Mkhwanazi shared that an intriguing puzzle is gradually coming together in their investigation. The Commissioner emphasized that their focus extends beyond the suspects already in custody, as the police continue to look further in their pursuit of uncovering the mastermind behind the murders.

“Very interesting investigation that is unfolding behind the scenes, you know me I cannot talk about things until I come to court. So we continue with the investigations, I’m not going to tell you to what extent we are, but there’s a nice picture that is coming together which is quite interesting,” Mkhwanazi said.

The KZN Police Commissioner revealed that compelling evidence will soon be presented in court, shedding light on the truth behind the murders of AKA and Tibz. This evidence will make it clear to the public that those who have denied their involvement are indeed responsible for the tragic deaths.

“When the case is in court there’s some interesting evidence that is going to be shared in court that is going to make the public realise to what extent people go in planning to kill someone and those that might say they haven’t done it, and when the evidence is presented it’s going to be clear to everyone that actually, they did it.

“Then step further they will have to come up and confirm that yes indeed these were their masters that made them do it. The picture is emerging as we are putting this puzzle together, we are starting to see something very interesting that is beyond the ones that are arrested,” Commissioner Mkhwanazi added.

The murder, which took place on February 10, 2023, in Durban, shocked South Africans and left the music community reeling. CCTV footage captured the shocking moment when Forbes and Tibz were shot outside a restaurant, fueling intense public interest and scrutiny regarding the motives and perpetrators behind the attack.
