Kerry Washington suits up as Captain Charity Adams of the Women’s Army Corp in the new The Six Triple Eight official trailer. Shared by Netflix on Monday (Nov. 25), the preview gives a deeper look at the drama, based on the true story of the all-Black Women’s Army Corps unit, the 6888th Central Postal Directory Battalion. The group was responsible for sorting the massive backlog of undelivered mail for U.S. service members in England and France during World War II.
The film, which is written, directed, and produced by Tyler Perry, also stars Ebony Obsidian, Milauna Jackson, Shanice Shantay, Oprah Winfrey, Susan Sarandon, and more.
“The soldiers have not heard from their loved ones and their loved ones have not heard from them. When there is no mail, there is low morale,” declares Washington in the trailer to the Battalion members.

Six Triple Eight is based on the article Fighting A Two-Front War by Kevin M. Hymel published in WWII History Magazine by Sovereign Media. The trailer features an original song written by Diane Warren and performed by H.E.R., with choreography by Debbie Allen. The movie was first announced in September 2022.
“You have no idea what it means to me to have been given the grace and the blessing to be able to tell THIS story!” the filmmaker exclaimed earlier this year on social media. “Every detail is dedicated to the memory of the 855 black women and women of color of the Six Triple Eight. When America needed hope, they delivered!”
Six Triple Eight is set to premiere in select theaters starting Dec. 6 and will debut on the streamer Dec. 20. Watch the official trailer above.
