  • Skales has disclosed that he believes he has inspired Burna Boy at some point in his music career and before he became really famous.
  • The singer restated his earlier point of view that no one helped him succeed in the music industry but there were inspirations.
  • Skales also added that Burna Boy inspired him as well.

Nigerian singer, Raoul John Njeng-Njeng, popularly known as Skales, has claimed that he inspired his colleague, Burna Boy, at some point in his career.

Speaking in a recent interview with Naija FM, Lagos, Skales claimed that before he featured Burna Boy on ‘Temper Remix’ in 2017, the Port Harcourt-born singer had no hit song.

He, however, added that Burna Boy has also inspired him over the years.

He explained that the essence of collaboration is to support and promote each other. In Skales’s words:

“I inspired Burna Boy. He will agree with me. So, nobody help anybody. We probably admire ourselves and we decide to work together.

“As at then, Burna boy had no hot song before I featured him on ‘Temper Remix.’

“It was after our collaboration that he started excelling. I’m not trying to take credit for his success but he has inspired me over the years and I believe I inspired him at a point, too.”

Days back, Skales mourned his late mother on social media. The Shake Body crooner said it was his wish for his late mum to return to life.

Men, I wish I could bring back my mother,” he wrote on X, sparking fans’ emotions.

Skales lost his mum in October 2022.

In a recent interview with VJ Adams, the 33-year-old singer revealed that he started regretting not having children early enough before his mother died.

According to him, his mum’s death made him realise that he was the only person left in his bloodline. He said

“Right now, I regret not having baby mamas. I really regret it. I’m like the only person in my bloodline that is alive right now. So, the whole bloodline relies on me to produce [children].”
