Xzibit Reveals Wild Story Of Tour Bus Shooting Involving Big Pun

Xzibit was once involved in a tour bus shooting with late rap legend Big Pun during their time as labelmates during the late ’90s.

In an interview with Bootleg Kev, the veteran lyricist recalled his adventures on the road with Pun and the Terror Squad, who were known for being unruly and willing to settle any altercation, physically or otherwise.

At the time, the pair were on a trek across the country and headed to Michigan when the tour bus the Terror Squad were riding in broke down, leading Pun and crew to finish the trip riding on the former Pimp My Ride host’s tour bus.

“I knew the day was going to get wild,” Xzibit said. “But I had no idea how far things would spiral.”

According to X, things began to go awry when Pun and crew ordered a car service to take them to their hotel, but wound up quarreling with the driver, who angrily told the group that he didn’t have enough room in his vehicle to transport all of them to their destination.

“This old-school guy with a Jheri curl pulls up in a limousine,” Xzibit remembered. “He steps out with an attitude, clearly unhappy with the situation. He starts shouting, ‘All you can’t get in my car!’” 

Displeased with the driver’s reaction, the Terror Squad quickly surrounded the car, prompting the driver to attempt to evade the crew by running away.

“It was like watching a silent movie,” Xzibit said of the scene. “The guy’s running around the car while the entire crew chases him. It was chaos, but hilarious.”

Later in the evening, during the concert, a Terror Squad member named Boobie the Boxer got into a heated verbal exchange with a concertgoer in the crowd, leading to an object being hurled onstage and all hell breaking loose.

“Someone throws something, and suddenly a fight breaks out,” the “X” rapper recalled. “The fight moves onto the stage, and in the middle of it all, someone pulls a gun out of a briefcase and fires into the air. Bow!”

According to Xzibit, the gunman — a member of Terror Squad’s entourage — discarded the firearm. However, it was recovered by police, resulting in everyone, including X, being detained.

 “The guy with the gun tosses it into a dumpster, but there’s no trash inside, so it just clanks,” Xzibit remembered. “The cops shine their flashlights, and there it is. Next thing you know, we’re all in cuffs.”

Xzibit said the crew was able to get out of town unscathed, but not without their tour buses being shot at in retaliation during their getaway.

“We had to pull off a covert operation to get everyone back on the bus,” the platinum-selling hitmaker said. “They even shot at the buses. It was insane—never a dull moment.”

Xzibit and Big Pun were both signed to Loud Records at the beginning of their respective careers, with X releasing his first four studio albums, At the Speed of Life, 40 Dayz & 40 Nightz, Restless, and Man vs. Machine.

Big Pun released three studio albums on Loud Records, his platinum debut Capital Punishment, and the posthumous follow-ups, Yeeeah Baby and Endangered Species, both released in the wake of his death in February 2000.
