Nigerian singer Akinmayokun Awodumila, better known as May D, has unleashed an intriguingrevelation about an encounter with music superstar Davido that exposes the harsh contrasts between struggle and privilege in the entertainment industry.

Speaking on the Honest Bunch podcast, May D painted a vivid picture of a time when Davido, after a fallout with his Billionaire father, Adedeji Adeleke, found himself at a crossroads and sought refuge in his room at P-Square’s mansion.

According to May D, this happened during his time under P-Square’s label, when he was hustling to carve a name for himself. He averred that Davido, unable to stay at any hotel due to his strained relationship with his father, reached out to him, hoping for a safe place to lay his head.

May D recalled how the OBO crooner stepped into his modest space and froze, his eyes scanning every corner in utter disbelief.

He said the superstar, who grew up in wealth and luxury, was visibly shaken by the living conditions. May D described the moment when Davido turned to him and outright refused to sleep there.

His words:

When Davido was running from his Dad, he came to my room in P-Square’s house, he was like ‘May-D is this where you stay? I can’t sleep here oh’…If I had a room, it would have been cooler”
