Doja Cat reflected on her big moment at Sunday’s Oscars ceremony amid criticism of her vocal talent.

The California native shared on social media how performing at the 97th annual Academy Award show was “scary as f**k.” In the live broadcast, the Grammy-winner sang “Diamonds Are Forever” as part of the James Bond tribute, which also included performances of “Live and Let Die” by Lisa, and “Skyfall” by RAYE.

As the Oscars aired, the live reviews poured in with harsh words for the Agora Hills singer’s delivery. “I don’t know who convinced Doja Cat to sing a SHIRLEY BASSEY song, but they need to be fired!,” wrote one user on X.

As the 29-year-old noted on Instagram, there was also support for her performance. She also admitted the rendition was not her strongest showcase.

“I danced with sarah paulson last night also Flow is my favorite movie of all time cuz it’s a story about friendship. Thanks to the Academy Awards and Vanity Fair for having me,” wrote the rapper on the platform sharing multiple photos from the glamorous night.

“I never get to sing like that and what I did was brave and scary as f**k for me. I know a lot of people didn’t like it but a lot of people did and I feel good that I pushed myself. The song is a classic and I put a lot of work into it but the nerves got to me and a bi**h hit some flats. I can’t wait to do something like that again. What a blessing that was. I feel amazing about the whole thing. Bye.”

She added in the comment section, “Also ALL the girls chewed down last night God BLESS them all. Absolutely gorgeous performances from everyone.”

The James Bond tribute was one of a handful of performances at the 2025 Oscars. Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande delivered a medley of tracks from The Wizard Of Oz, Wicked, and The Wiz, with powerful versions of “Somewhere Over The Rainbow,” “Home,” and “Defying Gravity.”

Additionally, Queen Latifah added to the show with a performance of “Ease On Down The Road,” also from The Wiz, as an homage to the late Quincy Jones after being introduced by Whoopi Goldberg and Oprah Winfrey.
