Mark Morrison, best known for his 1996 hit “Return Of The Mack,” was arrested for battery on Saturday (March 22) in Palm Beach, Florida.

Palm Beach Daily News reported that the British crooner wound up in handcuffs following an altercation at a restaurant. The 52-year-old was charged with simple battery after shoving a person twice inside Le Bar à Vin.

Per local authorities, Morrison entered the establishment around 6:15 p.m. ET and started “yelling and cursing” about an event. He reportedly brought another singer to the restaurant and told them to turn up the music. The music became too loud causing the venue’s general manager to tell Morrison that he could not tell the artist to raise the volume.

Fabrizio Riillo, the restaurant’s nightlife manager, witnessed the ordeal and corroborated the victim’s account, who said that he was confronted and aggressively shoved twice. Riillo told police that Morrison entered the restaurant “in an irate manner” and exchanged words with the alleged victim before pushing him twice. Riillo reportedly stepped in-between the two men prior to asking Morrison to leave. He confirmed that the victim never retaliated physically against Morrison.

Riillo believes “Mark Morrison came back on Saturday night looking for a fight.”

Morrison was released early Sunday morning on $1,000 bond. An arraignment date has been set for April 15 at the Palm Beach County Courthouse, per court documents. TMZ has obtained photos of the arrest.

This isn’t Morrison’s first bout of legal troubles.

In 1997, he was convicted of attempting to bring a firearm aboard an aircraft and served three months in jail. He was also arrested the following year for failure to appear in court. That same year, he was convicted of affray for participating in a brawl that led to one fatality. In 2002, he was arrested on suspicion of kidnapping and car theft. Two years later, he was arrested following a confrontation at a nightclub and was reportedly arrested in 2009 for assault.
