Nigerian popstar Adekunle Gold is set to co-produce an upcoming documentary titled “The Odyssey,” which explores the rich 100-year history of Yoruba music and its profound influence on contemporary Afrobeats.
Currently in production, “The Odyssey” aims to chronicle the evolution of Yoruba music, exploring genres such as Sakara, Apala, Juju, and Fuji, and highlighting their impact on today’s music scene.
The documentary is directed by Abba T. Makama, with Bobo Omotayo serving as the executive producer. Adekunle Gold’s involvement brings a fresh perspective to the project, given his deep roots in Yoruba culture, his successful music career, and, lest we forget, his Photoshop skills.
