Antonio Brown vowed to help a family after a father was arrested for leaving his kids unattended for a job interview.
According to The Augusta Press, Georgia father Chris Louis left his three children at a nearby McDonald’s on Tuesday (Mar. 22) to try and secure a job. The struggling dad allegedly left the 1, 6, and 10-year-olds in Mickey D’s kid’s play around 4:30 PM before making his way to his scheduled interview. Before he could return back to his children, however, the publication notes that Richmond County’s sheriff’s deputies made their way to the McDonald’s, where they located the trio of kids who were unharmed.
Law enforcement stayed with the unaccompanied minors until Louis returned from his job interview around 6 PM. After the cops confronted the man about his decision to leave his kids, Louis explained that he meant no ill will by it and felt he had to make sure the children didn’t go back to his house by themselves. Chris also explained to the police that he didn’t own a car.
The cops arrested the father and awaited the children’s mother at the restaurant before hauling Louis off to jail, where he was charged with deprivation of a minor. After the news went national, former NFL player Antonio Brown caught wind of the story and was touched by the father’s attempt at bettering his family.
Brown, 36, then moved to set up a GoFundMe for Chris to raise $50,000 for him and his family so they never have to struggle again. “Story caught me by surprise. A dad just trying to find a way to make money for his family. I know he shouldn’t just leave his kids, but some people don’t have the means for babysitting, etc. This GoFundMe is set in place to help this man. I have spoken with GoFundMe and they will get the funds to Chris and his family. I haven’t spoken to Chris yet, but I hope to do so soon,” the former Pittsburgh Steelers WR typed on the fundraising website.
Chris Louis also donated to the fund, chipping in $1,000.
