Rumi Carter is officially a performer now, just like her big sister Blue Ivy Carter and mother, Beyoncé!
The seven-year-old, who is the youngest daughter of Bey and JAY-Z, made her concert debut on the opening night of the Cowboy Carter Tour on Monday night (April 28) in Los Angeles. Rumi, who lent her voice to the track “Protector” on Act II: Cowboy Carter, has now made a rare but unforgettable appearance on stage during a performance of the song.
The internet is already buzzing with clips from the moment, where Rumi could be seen living her best life in a sparkly gold feather dress and matching cowboy boots, as she beamed from ear-to-ear. Overjoyed in the moment, Rumi happily waved at the crowd and even gave her mother several hugs throughout the set, visually leaving the global icon swoon. The little one even struck a fierce “protector” pose with her arms crossed over her chest as Blue and the dancers broke into a synchronized routine.
In an even more precious moment, Rumi joined Blue and her mom in a warm embrace, before the 13-year-old took her little sister’s hand to walk her off stage.
On the Cowboy Carter lullaby, “Protector,” Rumi’s voice is featured at the top of the track, asking: “Mom, can I hear the lullaby, please?” before the song’s gentle, dreamy notes start to play. Assumably, the track, “My Rose” is dedicated to her son, Sir. Beyoncé first began her tradition of making songs dedicated to her children in 2013 with “Blue,” a tribute to her first-born.
Beyoncé spoke about how important it is to make family a priority while still doing what she loves. In a 2024 interview with GQ, she said, “I always dreamt of a life where I could see the world with my family and expose them to different languages, architecture and lifestyles.” Speaking on keeping a sense of privacy, she added, “One thing I’ve worked extremely hard on is making sure my kids can have as much normalcy and privacy as possible. It’s very easy for celebrities to turn our lives into performance art.”
