Taking to social media, the Khayelitsha-born rapper expressed his joy and gratitude, sharing that the certification occurred last year, but the plaque has only just been delivered. “We did it. @Sjava_atm & Young2unnbeats. UMNTU is certified GOLD, it happened last year but we got the plaque now,” Bravo Le Roux wrote with palpable pride.

Released as the lead single from his 2023 album Igazi, Iinyembezi Nombilo, “Umntu” (meaning “person” in isiXhosa) sets the tone for a project that dives deep into personal and cultural narratives, a hallmark of Bravo Le Roux’s artistry.

The track opens with a smooth, atmospheric beat courtesy of producer Young2unnBeats, who crafts a soundscape that feels both modern and rooted in South African musical traditions. The production is minimal yet rich, allowing the vocals to take centre stage.

Bravo Le Roux delivers his verses with a confident flow, weaving isiXhosa lyrics with a conversational tone that draws listeners into his world. His delivery is raw and authentic, reflecting his Khayelitsha upbringing and the experiences that have shaped him as an artist.

Sjava’s contribution takes the song to new heights. Renowned for his soulful voice and heartfelt lyrics, he infuses the track with a haunting, introspective vibe. His verse harmonizes with Bravo’s vibrant energy, adding a layer of depth and vulnerability that makes “Umntu” truly resonate on an emotional level. The synergy between the two artists is palpable, resulting in a collaboration that feels natural and effortless.

The song serves as a beautiful reminder that true love still exists. There’s no need to rush—your person is out there. Be patient with yourself and continue the journey of finding them.
