Ye West’s admission to having an incestuous relationship with a male cousin has garnered widespread conversation, as a number of fans, pundits, and peers have shared their reaction to Ye’s revalation.

One person who expressed being unmoved by West’s shocking declaration was Charlamagne Tha God, who believes that the rapper’s seeming candidness is likely a “publicity stunt” meant to garner attention.

The Breakfast Club host seemed confused as to Ye’s reasoning for publicizing such an intimate matter, asking, “What am I supposed to do with this information?” during a discussion regarding the news on the outlet’s recent broadcast.

“If Kanye is fighting his sexuality, I hope he figures it out. Either go get help, or leave us alone. Because I don’t know what we’re supposed to do with this type of information just on a random Monday,” he went on.

When cohost Jess Hilarious said that what Ye described was a sexual assault, Charlamagne was wary of jumping to conclusions, instead focusing on Ye’s seeming need for professional help.

“I guess… I don’t know,” he said. “Once again, I don’t know what I’m supposed to do with this information! … We say that he needs help, man, but the reality is it feels like everything Kanye West does is a publicity stunt.”

Charlamagne also scoffed at one caller’s argument that Ye’s openness regarding his personal experience could prompt others to face or express their own trauma.

“No they not,” the New York Times Bestselling author said in response. “People are not going to start coming out saying they sucked their cousin penis.”

When another listener said that Ye “forced” himself on the male cousin, Charlamagne again diverted to the hitmaker’s mental state as the potential root of his recurring outbursts.

“We don’t know if it was forced, brother,” Charlamagne said of Ye’s sexual interactions with his relative. “Kanye should get help, but until he does everything I see him do just seems like a publicity stunt. Jess just brought up the interview with Akademiks, I had forgot about that.”

“Think about how he does so much crazy stuff, I literally forgot he was standing there in a black KKK outfit talking to Akademiks. The last two things I remember is him saying his mother was gay last week—which, what am I supposed to do with this information—and then this week it’s, ‘I sucked my cousin’s penis till I was 14.”

Charlagmane clarified that he was not insensitive to the topic of incest and molestation, as the media maven spoke on his own experiences of being taken advantage of as a child.

“Listen, I was getting molested when I was eight,” Charlamagne said while addressing a listener. “I was getting molested when I was eight by a 20-year-old woman.”

He continued, “I’m with you, this is a topic that we should be discussing,” he continued. “I just can’t take it serious, ’cause it’s coming from Kanye. Every week it’s something with Kanye. Everything seems like a publicity stunt. … I don’t take nothing you say serious.”

Earlier this week, West shared a snippet of a song from his forthcoming album, titled “Cousins,” in which he rhymes about his sexual experimentation with a cousin during his prebuscent years and early teens.

He also further expounded on the inspiration behind the song in a post on X, which he closed in part with the statement, “My name is Ye and I sucked my cousins d*ck till I was 14.”
