NBA star DeMar DeRozan was involved in a physical altercation with a Drake fan that resulted in the supposed victim receiving medical attention.
On Friday evening (April 18), DeRozan was having dinner at popular seafood restaurant Yume Sushi in Calabasas, when a man approached DeRozan at his table while recording the Sacramento Kings player with his phone flash on.

In a clip that’s surfaced on social media, a man informs DeRozan that the restaurant’s security is attempting to kick him out of the restaurant while shining the phone’s light directly in DeRozan’s face.
Seemingly startled, DeRozan shoves the phone out of the man’s hand, before getting out of his seat to confront him, repeatedly warning the man not to “walk up on me” as bystanders are heard attempting to diffuse the situation.

In another clip showing an alternate angle of the encounter, DeMar is seen on top of the man on the ground, as onlookers attempt to separate the two.
When the man regains his footing and attempts to retrieve his phone, DeRozan takes a swipe at him, causing a woman to urge DeRozan to move to another area inside the restaurant while keeping the man at bay.

The alleged victim would post the footage captured on his phone during the incident on his social media account, also including video of him being taken to a local hospital for x-rays and further medical evaluation.
“I just Get Attacked & Body Slapped By DeMar DeRozan,” the man wrote in the caption of the post. “Don’t Meet Your Hero’s Kids,” he added, before taking a jab DeRozan by tagging Drake‘s social media account, who DeRozan has fallen out with due to his support of fellow Compton native Kendrick Lamar.
According to police, an investigation into the altercation is now open.
A six-time NBA All-Star, DeRozan made a return to his home-state during the 2024 off-season, being acquired by the Kings in a three-team trade involving his previous team, the Chicago Bulls, and the San Antonio Spurs.
Rejoining fellow former Bulls teammate Zach Lavine, DeRozan suited up in 77 regular season games and averaged 22.2 points per game while helping lead the Kings to the NBA Play-In.
