Diddy is standing firm in the midst of serious legal charges against him, reportedly rejecting a plea deal that federal prosecutors offered him in a Manhattan courthouse on Friday (April 25).
According to Rolling Stone, prosecutors confirmed that they had extended a deal to Diddy, but the disgraced mogul turned it down without hesitation, setting the stage for a contentious trial. Per TMZ, the Bad Boy boss’ legal team has made it clear that they have a defense strategy in place — arguing that while Diddy may be a “swinger,” he is by no means “a criminal.”
Marc Agnifilo, the head attorney of Diddy’s legal team, asserted that being a swinger is a common thing and is something that the father-of-seven likely didn’t even think twice about. “There’s a lifestyle, call it swingers or whatever you will, that he thought was appropriate because it was common,” Agnifilo told the court. “Many people think it’s appropriate because it’s common.” However, prosecutors reportedly pushed back, claiming that some of Diddy’s alleged actions go far beyond the boundaries of consensual relationships.

To further prove Diddy’s alleged “criminal” activities, prosecutors are reportedly allowed to show the hotel footage of him assaulting Cassie in court, with the person who filmed the surveillance footage expected to testify. Alongside the “Me & U” singer, three other anonymous alleged victims are set to take the stand.
When it comes to the aftermath of the hotel assault, Diddy already publicly admitted to the monstrous incident, but deleted his apology soon after. “I take full responsibility for my actions in that video. I’m disgusted. I was disgusted then when I did it, and I’m disgusted now,” he said at the time. Combs and his legal team have since gone on to vigorously discredit the video.
Last month, Combs alleged that CNN tampered with the leaked security footage, claiming the network altered the original tape. He accused CNN of “covering the time stamp and changing the video sequence,” as well as “speeding up the footage to make it appear as though the actions in the video were happening more quickly than they actually were.” CNN has since denied these allegations.
As the 55-year-old awaits trial, he has continued to maintain his innocence, pleaded “not guilty” to all five charges against him, which include two counts of sex trafficking, two counts of transporting individuals for prostitution, and one count of racketeering. If convicted, Diddy faces up to life in prison.
The high-profile trial is set to begin on May 5, 2025.
