  • Akah’s stance on the issue raised a series of comments, with many applauding him for speaking up.

Nollywood actor Akah Nnani like many, has shared his opinion on the trending saga involving Senator Natasha Akpoti and the Senate President Godswill Akpabio.

The female senator accused the Senate President of sexual harassment during a live TV interview after their spat at the senate over seating arrangements.

The Kogi senator said Akpabio had made advances at her while her husband was walking closely behind during a gathering. While she refused to disclose to her husband what Akpabio said, he would later instruct her not to travel out of the country alone or visit Akpabio’s guest house ever again.

Akpoti-Uduaghan also alleged that when she met Akpabio at his office for repeatedly stepping down her motions, the senate president told her that she could “enjoy a whole lot if she takes care of him”.

The revelation has been met with widespread reaction from the public with many picking sides. Also sharing his opinion on his Instagram page, Akah Nnani expressed his concern regarding the danger women face when they are harassed and consequently shamed after speaking up, especially by other women. He asked in the video:

“If the woman with power is not safe, what of the girl with no name?”

The movie star accompanied the emotional clip with a caption, calling good men to speak up and not look away. Akah wrote in part:

“There comes a time when silence is betrayal. Today, I choose to speak. This is not just about one woman. This is about a system that has failed to protect its own. If a female senator is not safe, then who is? If a woman in power is ridiculed for speaking up, then what happens to the girl on the street, the woman in the workplace, the child in a classroom? Good men, where are you? Men with voices, influence, power and integrity must do something. We cannot keep looking away. We cannot let injustice become culture. We cannot let our daughters inherit a world where their voices are drowned out by mockery, where their pain is entertainment, where their dignity is negotiable.”
