Jaylen Brown is the latest athlete to speak on fans blaming NBA players for the results of their bets. In short, do not engage with the 2024 NBA Finals MVP about anything sports gambling-related.

“With the fans, nowadays in this era, it’s all about gambling,” the Boston Celtics star said during his recent appearance on Million Dollaz Worth Of Game. “That’s the fan engagement from now. It’s created a hostile environment almost for athletes… I can have a good game and ni**as still be online talking sh*t. But if I do happen to get on, if I do happen to just scroll, the comments be like, ‘F**k you, ni**a… if I see you in the street…’ I’m like, ‘For real?’”

Make no mistake, though; the 28-year-old hooper is ready to match fire with fire. “I’mma say this to the camera, if one of you parlay f**kers run up on me, I’m telling you… I’mma f**k you up,” he said emphatically. “Try it if you want to. That’s all I’mma say.” Brown revealed that he practices both Muay Thai and Tai Chi, so this is a warning worth heeding.

Bradley Beal got into a legal situation with a fan almost two years ago, which stemmed from an altercation over a lost bet. A fan yelled “You made me lose $1,300, you f**k” while the three-time All-Star was still a member of the Washington Wizards. Beal reportedly turned to Kyle Briffa and his friend and struck the friend on the side of his head, knocking his hat off in the process.

Per documents obtained by ESPN, the Phoenix Suns hooper said, “When you disrespect me, I’m going to press you about it,” and also asked, “Do you think this is a joke? […] What are we doing?” Beal was also reported to have told the fans, “Keep it a buck. I don’t give a f**k about none of your bets or your parlays, bro. That ain’t why I play the game.”

Briffa sued him for assault and sought $50,000. “Nobody wants to lose money. I get it,” Bradley Beal said in a postseason press conference when describing the incident. “If you keep it about sports, I’m all for it. But I think it’s when people start getting personal, talking about your family, talking about your character, your integrity towards the game. I think all of that, we can save it. We can really keep those comments to ourselves.”
