After nearly two decades, Jim Jones is clearly still as enamored with Chrissy Lampkin as he was when they first met.

During a recent appearance on the 90s Baby Show podcast, Jimmy recalled his first encounter with Chrissy—revealing that he had admired her long before they officially crossed paths. “I had a crush on Chrissy,” he began. “Chrissy’s probably one of the flyest, baddest, dopest chicks from Harlem.”

Jones recounted that the first time he saw Lampkin was at Mart 125, a historic Harlem marketplace that operated near the Apollo Theater. At the time, he had arrived with Mase and was immediately drawn in by Chrissy’s presence.

Fast forward to 2004 and the two ran into each other at Miami beach club. The Dipset vet recalled Lampkin making the first move. “She ran down on [me] and said some funny sh*t,” he shared. “I was like, wow, this is crazy. In my mind, I was like, ‘Wow, I’m nervous.’ Like I’m trying to find my cool. At that moment, I felt like all my cool was out the window, and I feel like I’m the coolest individual in the world.”

The show’s host was quick to point out that Jim Jones was still blushing when speaking of her.

While their love story continues to captivate fans, it has also been the subject of marital speculations. In November 2023, rumors circulated that Jones had secretly married Basketball Wives star Brooke Bailey. The rapper swiftly shut down the claims, posting a video in which he cryptically remarked that the world “needs more water.”

Moments later, Chrissy could be heard off-camera playfully chiming in: “I’m just drinking my water and minding my business.” Bailey also took to social media days later to deny any romantic involvement with Jones, putting the speculation to rest. The entire ordeal came with much reignited commentary about Jim marrying Lampkin.

In 2021, the “Ballin” rapper appeared on WGCI’s The Morning Show, and made it clear that he wants people to stop worrying about getting him married. When host Kendra G. brought up the topic—asking if marriage was on the horizon—Jones responded with a firm, “Nope.”

Turning the question back on the host, he asked, “You married?” As she admitted she wasn’t, Jones then pressed further with, “Your mama married?” Kendra revealed that her mother had never married either.

Seizing the moment, Jones concluded, “Alright, then! That should answer your question. Why you worried about me getting married? You talking to me about something that you or your mom haven’t fulfilled. So, you shouldn’t worry about what’s going on in my house.”

Fans of Love & Hip Hop can remember when Chrissy Lampkin proposed to Jim Jones back in 2011 during the show’s first season. However, when Jones didn’t take immediate steps toward marriage, Lampkin briefly stepped away from their relationship in Season 2. Despite the tension, the couple reconciled and has remained together ever since.

In 2020, Chrissy reflected on the proposal in a special segment with VH1, revealing that marriage was no longer a priority. “To be honest with you, it’s not a priority anymore,” she admitted. “Our relationship is in a good place. I thought that that was, like, the natural progression [to get engaged], but it’s not for everybody. So, we’re good right now.”

Interestingly, she also shared that she never watched the engagement episode when it originally aired. Years later, when she finally did, it brought back a wave of emotions. “You know I never watched this? That was a lot,” she told VH1. “I felt the love. It was weird and I’m not in that space anymore, but that’s okay. I still love him. The love is still there.”
