Joe Budden Reveals The Reason Behind Drake And Metro Boomin’s Feud?

Joe Budden has been a vocal critic of Drake for years, recently taking “the boy” to task over his petitions against Universal Music Group. During his latest Joe Budden Podcast rant, the former wordsmith seemingly revealed the root of Drake’s feud with producer Metro Boomin while venting over the Toronto artist’s alleged habit of disrespecting others.

“[Drake] is a selfish, lying, manipulative sack of sh*t who has made enemies for fifteen years, and now we are here at the f**king boiling point. You have been behind the scenes being the biggest sack of sh*t you could possibly be,” Budden asserted, going on to give examples of Drake’s allegedly unsavory behavior.

“You have been behind the scenes hittin’ ni**as baby moms, sending money to ni**as baby moms…sending messages to this ni**as wife.” Budden them implies Drake was dismissive of a producer whose mother passed away. “‘Ay, but this ni**as mom died,’ ‘Hey all that’s cool, but where my beat at, ni**a? I don’t give a f**k that your mom died.’ Dog, this guy has been a sack of sh*t behind the scenes.” Check out the clip here.

Metro Boomin’s mother, Leslie Wayne, was killed by her boyfriend in a murder-suicide in 2022. Budden’s mention of Drake dismissing the passing of a producer’s mother has led observers to believe that Drizzy’s alleged insensitivity is what caused the rift between the former collaborators.

In a recent interview with GQ, Metro and We Don’t Trust You collaborator Future discussed the rift between the rappers, with Metro refusing to say exactly what went wrong.

“Me and Drake, we had a personal issue and, for the record, not over no girl or anything silly like that,” he stated. “It was a personal issue that really hurt me and disappointed me.”

Metro added that he regrets how he handled the situation online, which involved plenty of sub-tweeting between the two and Boomin’ starting a “BBL Drizzy” beat challenge.

“Now I did have my moment online, which I do regret,” he said. “I should have been stronger than that. That was out of character for me. But at a certain point, it’s like, ‘I don’t rap, bro, so you’re going to just sh*t on me on all of these songs…I’m not going to get in the booth, so I’m finna tweet at you.’”
