Ye West has rejected Travis Scott‘s notion that the two are family, criticizing his former collaborator and protege for seemingly turning his back on him amid the public backlash he’s received.
In a recent cover story for Complex, Scott was asked his feelings about Ye, with the Texan crediting West with taking him under his wing early in his career and positively impacting his creative direction.

He also pointed out the fact that both of their children are cousins to one another as any reason for his high regard for Ye.
“That’s my kids’ uncle,” Scott said of West back in February, when the interview was conducted. “That guy took me in when I was young, when I was like 19. He taught me a lot about music. And not even just ‘taught’ me, but he allowed me to experience the creation of music.”

“To create music with him, it’s what helped me grow, making a lot of beats. Whether it’s writing and collabing on music and film or clothes or whatever the f**k it is, just constantly learning.”
However, Travis’ comments in the cover story, which was released last week, left Ye unmoved. He blasted the Astroworld artist for his alleged lack of authority as a parent, which Ye has also admitted to feeling himself.

“I read something about Trav commenting on my comments and I’m just like, bro all this idea of uncle and brother? This ain’t no actual family,” Ye said, referring to the Kardashian and Jenner clan.
“There’s no men who have footing in the situation. We don’t come together and actually have any control of our kids. It’s like we so concerned about being in the industry that we let our kids get indoctrinated to the industry.”

Ye then expressed his ire over being removed from Scott’s song “Telekinesis” from his 2023 album Utopia, making it clear his relationship with Scott is strained, at best.
“So when they asked Trav [about me in his new interview, it was] literally textbook Jewish response like, ‘Ah man, that’s my kids’ uncle.’ Ni**a you not talking about how I was on the original Future Bounce [‘Telekinesis’] and then you put Future on it and had me bounce,” he said.

“And there’s just no conversation and it’s all, ‘We gon’ do some hugs afterwards.’ And that’s why I was like, I’m not gonna take it! There’s no more hugs.”
Ye shares four children with Kim Kardashian: North West (born June 2013), Saint West (born December 2015), Chicago West (born via surrogate in January 2018), and Psalm West (born via surrogate in May 2019).
Scott and Kim’s younger sister, Kylie Jenner, share two children: daughter Stormi Webster, born in 2018, and son Aire Webster, born in 2022.

Ye’s comments came during a livestream shortly after Scott’s cover story went live and comes at a time where the two appear to have fallen out, as Scott unfollowed Ye on social media following his anti-semitic rant back in February, after his cover story.
