Lizzo shares that she, SZA, and another musician once had the idea to shake up the world with the formation of a music group. The singer took to Twitch and detailed how one song in SZA’s catalogue is proof of the collaborative dream.
“We’ve just always been friends, and it’s a sacred space for me in this industry,” revealed Lizzo of her and SZA’s close bond, per Billboard. “We got this little period of time where we were just linking up in the studio, and eating pasta and drinking.
“This one particular night, mind you, we were gonna start a rock band, called Pu**y Lasers. Oh my gosh, she’s not gonna get mad if I say this,” reflected the Yitty founder. “We were going to start a rock band called Pu**y Lasers with an incredible other artist who I don’t know if she even wants to be mentioned, so I’m not going to mention her.”

She continued to explain how the studio session resulted in “F2F” featured in SZA’s acclaimed SOS album. On the song, Lizzo is credited as a background vocalist on Apple Music.
“I was just like, ‘I hope, I hope she puts it on the album. And then one day out of the blue she just texted me the finished version and I was just like, ‘And this is why you’re the GOAT.’” She added, “She writes the craziest, most insane sh*t that you’re thinking and feeling, but she just finds a way to say it, and she sings it so beautifully out the gate, out of her mouth the first time.”
In the past, songwriter-producer Carter Lang detailed how the two women came together on “F2F,” saying, “They were putting some energy into it. That was the thing that I feel sparked SZA really taking it into her own world and figuring out how it can be part of her story in an authentic way and not like, ‘Hey, I just did a rock joint.’”
Elsewhere in the Twitch stream, the 36-year-old explained to fans, “I’ve been working on music for the last two years and took my time and I did it right. The new era begins today,” adding, “I truly am coming to gag throats.”
Lizzo’s last release was the album Special, issued in 2022. The work received nominations for Album of the Year and Best Pop Vocal Album at the 65th annual Grammy Awards, with the single “About Damn Time” claiming Record of the Year.
