Nigerian singer and songwriter Teniola Apata, better known as Teni, has shared a video detailing her health challenges for the past two weeks.

The 32-year-old, who revealed she was down with malaria, explained her ordeal with a funny voiceover while showing medical practitioners taking care of her at home.

Revealing her illness left her weak with no appetite to eat, Teni then captured a moment where she received an injection, disclosing she hasn’t fully recuperated. She jokingly urged Oba Saheed Elegushi to do something about the mosquito infestation in Ikate stating:

Ah, e no go better for all the mosquitos wey dey for Ikate. I dey tell you. Oba, you need to find something to do about the mosquitos in Ikate because malaria had me down.”

Despite her condition, Teni travelled to Ondo to perform and shared a clip from her on-stage performance because she stated that she couldn’t refund the money they paid.

The self-styled Sugar Mummy of Lagos affirmed in the caption of the video that “money cannot buy you health o, na God”. Teni narrated in the clip:

“Yep. That’s me. You’re probably wondering how I ended up in this situation.

When I sang “Uyo Meyo” and said, “Ohun toju mi ti ri ah” [meaning “What my eyes have seen”], my eyes have really seen something. Malaria!.”

“They should turn off the AC in the burial ground of my father because it’s like he wanted to take a nap. I said, “Wake up, your daughter is dying!” I was down. I was weak for two weeks. I couldn’t eat.

If you people should see my neck now, I look like tolotolo. I look like a turkey. And I went to go and perform in Ondo as I was sick oh, as I was sick—because who will feed me?

Look at me. I was dying oh! Look at me just dancing, singing “For Your Case oh” because I cannot return money. Any money that enters into my account, whichever money enters inside sugar mummy account, it does not use to come back outside.

And they say money is the root of all evil. E no go better for evil!.”
