Keke Palmer and Usher reunited earlier this week on her award-winning podcast, Baby This Is Keke Palmer. The two opened up about their own hilariously controversial moment from his Las Vegas residency, played her version of “Truth or Dare,” and discussed pivotal elements from his storied career including his latest venture with Audible and his magnum opus, Confessions.
When discussing his 2004 classic album, Palmer began singing what she thought was a single off the LP. In actuality, it was Ray J‘s “One Wish” and that mishap created yet another viral interaction. “As a matter of fact, I was the one who said I loved you first,” she sang confidently before she realized her mistake.
“Where the hell’d you just go,” Usher quipped. As the snippet reached over 2.2 million views on X, Ray J commented, “Confessed her one wish @KekePalmer.”
Palmer replied, “I’m HOLLERING whew!”
Back in 2023 at the Soul Train Awards, Ray told VIBE that he was working on a special edition of Raydiation to commemorate its 20th anniversary. “A lot of collabs and s**t,” he teased and also hinted at a duet or two with his sister Brandy, and niece Sy’Rai. He didn’t go into detail about whether or not that also meant a newer version of “One Wish” would appear on the project.
Raydiation, which came out in September 2005, was Ray’s third album. Its hit single, “One Wish,” peaked No. 11 on the Billboard Hot 100 the following month. It became Ray’s first top 10 hit on the chart, ahead of his 2008 banger, “Sexy Can I” featuring Yung Berg, that soared to No. 3 upon its release.
