Rihanna is throwing her full support behind her partner, A$AP Rocky, as she’s reportedly made plans to physically attend his Wednesday (Jan. 29) criminal trial date.

The Harlem rapper born Rakim Mayers has pleaded not guilty to charges of assault with a semiautomatic firearm related to a 2021 shooting incident involving Terell Ephron, formerly known as A$AP Relli. TMZ is now reporting that the superstar singer and the mother of Rocky’s two children plans to attend the trial and will likely sit in the gallery with “all the regular folks.” The source added that their plans may change, but that as of publication, the “Needed Me” songstress has full intentions of showing up to the Downtown Los Angeles courthouse in support of her beau.

The report comes two weeks after the judge presiding over the case expressed confusion regarding the couple’s marital status. When asked by Judge Mark S. Arnold to clarify their relationship status, Rocky’s attorney, Joe Tacopina, responded, “She’s his common-law wife, your Honor. Or just ‘wife,’” prompting an objection from prosecution.

“If they’re not legally married, we prefer that she not be referred to as his wife and that she is just referred to as his significant other or mother of his children,” the prosecution stated. Despite Tacopina doubling-down that they are “common law” spouses, Judge Arnold ultimately declared, “If they are not legally married, she is his significant other.”

Rejecting an offered plea deal, Tacopina claims his client is “eager to tell his story” in court. The “Fashion Killa” artist also found support in Rev. Al Sharpton, who expressed concern over the racial makeup of potential jurors.

“It is absolutely ridiculous that the jury will be not fair and representative, so as to deprive A$AP Rocky of a fair trial,” he wrote on X last week. “When we have four (4) Black people in the city of Los Angeles, out of one hundred and six (106) — and exactly zero (0) within in the first thirty (30) possible candidates for the jury — something appears to be very wrong with the system.”
