Sean Kingston (né Kisean Anderson) and his mother, Janice Turner, are seeking help from a higher power as they face five counts of wire fraud and conspiracy to commit wire fraud for allegedly defrauding several businesses for over $1 million.
The 35-year-old and 61-year-old, respectively, appeared in a Broward County courtoom on Tuesday (March 25) for the second day in their trial. As they entered and left the courthouse, they were both seen holding Bibles in their hands.
Before leaving, the “Beautiful Girls” artist told reporters, “All my fans that supported me, I love you guys.”
In terms of witness testimony, XXL reported that Ariel Mateos — the owner of one company that sold Kingston a 232-inch television valued at $115,000— claimed that he was given a $30,000 down payment. However, Mateos accused the artist of using fake wire transfer receipts to evade paying the remaining balance.
Mateos’ attorney, Dennis Carr, previously spoke on Kingston’s alleged scheme the day his home was raided by authorities. “He’s got basically a script,” Carr stated. “He says that he works with Justin Bieber and that he obviously puts on a big show here. This is a rental house. He doesn’t own it, and he lures people using his celebrity into having them release things without him paying for it and he simply never pays.”
A car salesman accused Kingston of fraudulently obtaining a Cadillac Escalade, valued at $159,701.49, after he was also accused of fraudulently obtaining jewelry valued at $480,000.
Jury selection was narrowed down ahead of the testimonies. Out of the 45 prospective jurors, nine women and four men were chosen.
