Death Row Records has announced that their newest release, a gospel compilation album titled Altar Call, will be out on April 27.

Executive produced by Snoop Dogg, Altar Call is a sequel of his 2018 album, Bible Of Love, and is dedicated to his late mother, Beverly Tate — which is why the LP arrives on her birthday. “It’s an imprint that’s there thematically, symbolically, and literally; her face adorns the cover of the album,” the label noted.

In a statement first shared by Okayplayer, Snoop shared, “The spirit of my mother will forever live within me. This album is a reflection of what she has taught me to use my voice and my platform to spread love and heal the world. Just another chapter out of the ‘Bible of Love.’”

The 21-track LP will include Jamie Foxx’s rendition of Bill Withers‘ “Grandma’s Hands,” and records from Charlie Bereal, Jane Handcock, Jazze Pha, October London, Mali Music, Robert Glasper, and more as well as the debut of the Death Row Mass Choir.

The lead single, John P. Kee’s “Mother I Miss You,” will be out on Friday (April 18).

The famed gospel phenom spoke on his relationship with Snoop and the undying love the rapper had for his mother.

He expressed, “I’ve known Snoop for a while. One of the things I’ve admired about him over the years has been his love for his mother. He has always honored her in such a way that inspired those that knew him personally to do the same! The amazing thing about this writing assignment was that I wanted to do something for the family during their time of bereavement. Look at God! He made a way for me to honor her by writing this song that definitely represents her love, reverence, honor, and care for her family! Mother Beverly, we will never forget you, Uncle John P Kee.”

Altar Call is described as “a heartfelt testimony, a moment of reflection, faith, and community [and] a reminder that no matter your path, there is always room for grace.”
