Snoop Dogg received a lot of backlash last week for performing at the Crypto Ball, which took place the weekend leading to Donald Trump being inaugurated as President. The 53-year-old rapper recently addressed the criticism and assured his fans that he is still with them.

The Long Beach, Calif., artist’s decision was especially confusing since he called out Black people who supported the controversial politician during his first term as President. Even further, he referred to any Black artist who chose to perform at his inauguration events as “jiggaboos.” Thus, eight years later, he was placed under the same microscope.

“It’s Sunday man, I got gospel in my heart right now,” he said in a recent Instagram live while smoking in his car and listening to gospel music. “For all that hate, I’m going to answer with love. Y’all can’t hate enough on me. I love too much. Get your life right stop worrying about mine. I’m cool, I’m together. Still a Black man, still 100 percent Black.”

Amid the hate Snoop Dogg received for his Crypto Ball performance, Stephen A. Smith stood up for him, plus Rick Ross, Soulja Boy, and Nelly; Rozay and Draco performed at Crypto Ball while the St. Louis rapper performed at the Liberty Ball. “Now that the brothers come along and make something of themselves, and they got opportunities that they’re willing to exploit, and they choose to be apolitical, you wanna get in their a**?” SAS asked.

Charlamagne Tha God also defended the rappers on The Breakfast Club and called out those who hold rappers to a higher standard than their beloved politicians. “The hypocrisy that people display in regards to who they like and don’t like is mind-blowing to me,” he said. “There is no way you are more mad at rappers for performing at these inauguration events than you are at the elected officials who told us Trump was a fascist a threat to democracy a danger to our country and the Constitution.”

The polarizing media personality cited how Joe Biden welcomed Trump into the office and Barack Obama was spotted laughing with him at Jimmy Carter’s memorial service. “Honestly, those performances are inconsequential but what are people going to remember two years from now in midterms? Or four years from now when it’s another presidential election?” he asked. “They’re going to remember when ‘You likened this guy to Hitler and this guy was a threat to democracy. But then we saw you showing all your teeth with him at a funeral.”
