  • Nasboi admonished singles to stop using celebrity marriages to define marriage, noting how it is a choice to marry or not.
  • He noted how when a celebrity marriage crash, netizens begin to say marriage isn’t for them, forgetting their parents, who have been married for over 3 decades.

Nigerian singer and content creator, Nasboi has addressed a concerning trend on social media, where individuals use celebrity marriages as a yardstick for their own relationships.

He specifically pointed out how the ongoing marital issues between 2baba and Annie Idibia have led some people to dismiss the idea of marriage altogether.

Nasboi emphasized the importance of looking to more relatable and sustainable examples of marriage, such as those of our parents or grandparents who have maintained long-lasting and fulfilling relationships.

He wrote on X:

“1 celebrity divorce, then you begin to say this thing called marriage is not for me. Buh, you forget your parents, who have been married for over 30-something years. Stop using celebrity marriages to define marriage. If you like no marry na you sabi”.

Recall that 2Baba recently announced separation from wife, Annie.

On Sunday night, January 26, Idibia revealed in an Instagram story video that he made the controversial post about his separation from wife Annie Idibia.

Recall that Innocent Idibia had already declared the breakup of his 13-year marriage to Annie on Instagram.

He wrote:

“Hello to my beautiful people of all federations. Well, this thing I have to say is short but also long…I and Annie Macaulay have been separated for a while now, and currently filed for divorce.

“I would grant a press release soon to say my story. Not because it is anyone’s right to know about my personal life but because I love my people and I need them to know my innocence or offense. Stay blessed my people. I love you all.”

Hours after the post went viral, another post appeared on the same account, claiming that the page had been compromised.

It read:

“My Instagram account has been hacked, efforts are being carried out to take back control. #onelove!”

In an unexpected turn of events, Idibia later produced a video that clarified the situation.

He stated that his account had not been hacked, contradicting the earlier declaration, and hinted that the initial message regarding his split was genuine.
