Attorney Tony Buzbee has reportedly been barred from practicing law in the Southern District of New York.
Journalist Meghann Cuniff reported on Saturday (Feb. 22) that after the Houston-based lawyer’s lawsuit against JAY-Z was dismissed, the Committee on Grievances for the Southern District of New York issued a ruling asserting that he can no longer litigate in the following areas: New York, Bronx, Westchester, Rockland, Putnam, Orange, Dutchess, the Sullivan counties, and even NYC’s five boroughs.
In the future, Buzbee must attach his court-ruled denial letter with every litigation request in the district. And if you’re wondering what this means for the attorney’s dozens of cases against Diddy, it’s currently unknown. Previously, Buzbee attempted to add and lump in JAY-Z to his lawsuit, claiming that he and Diddy sexually assaulted a 13-year-old girl in 2000. However, Variety confirmed that the suit had been “voluntarily dismissed with prejudice” on Valentine’s Day.
All parties involved agreed to the ruling, but it should be noted that the outspoken attorney has yet to release a statement regarding the decision. Still, JAY-Z and Roc Nation stated their “victory,” with the rapper bringing forth new harrowing details that he and his family faced after the lawsuit’s initial filing.
The Roc Nation boss recalled the “trauma” that his family faced and the constant “death threats” flung at them, saying, “The frivolous, fictitious and appalling allegations have been dismissed. This civil suit was without merit and never going anywhere. The fictional tale they created was laughable, if not for the seriousness of the claims. I would not wish this experience on anyone. The trauma that my wife, my children, loved ones, and I have endured can never be dismissed.”
Hov then moved to sue Buzbee for defamation, civil extortion, and intentional infliction of emotional distress.
