The man responsible for the death of Atlanta rapper Trouble has pled guilty for his role in the violent crime.

Jamichael Jones entered a negotiated guilty plea to a charge of voluntary manslaughter, according to Fox 5 Atlanta. The news outlet reported that Jones’ murder trial was set to begin last week before the deal was announced. He was initially charged with malice murder, felony murder, aggravated assault, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, second-degree criminal damage to property, and family violence simple battery. In his deal, the other charges were dropped as part of the plea.

Jones was sentenced to 20 years with time served following the plea.

“His mother was a huge resource in helping us apprehend him,” detailed Rockdale County Sheriff Eric Levette, according to the news station.

Trouble, birth name Mariel Orr, was shot dead in June 2022 by Jones while sleeping at a woman’s apartment. Jones, the ex-partner of the woman, broke into the residence and began to assault her, fatally wounding the Edgewood rapper, who attempted to stop the attack.

“What we know and what I can tell you is that Mr. Mariel Orr was visiting a female friend at the apartment complex and Mr. Jamichael Jones did know the female and it was a domestic situation,” explained Rockdale County’s Public Information Officer Jedidia Canty at the time.

“I know there are a lot of people that are really upset right now about the situation.”
