Wiz Khalifa recently made controversial comments on The Joe Budden Podcast, boldly declaring that he doesn’t believe the Earth is round. In a conversation that quickly turned into an internet roast session, the Pittsburgh rapper stated, “I just believe that we live on a flat plane, like a huge flat plane.”
According to Khalifa, the routes he’s taken while flying made him question the shape of the planet. “When I travel, the routes that we take and how we do it, it’s not possible to go up and down. You’re just going straight,” he explained. Wiz even suggested that there could be undiscovered land masses, referencing Pangea, the ancient supercontinent. “I think that there’s more masses than just what we see,” he added, further elaborating that the Earth was once one piece before spreading out.
In another claim, Wiz then went on to dismiss space exploration altogether. “I don’t believe in space exploration at all. I don’t believe that they explore space as much as they say that they do,” he declared.
While the podcast segment saw the co-hosts poking fun at his views, the internet did not hold back in its response. X posts quickly flooded in, with some users declaring, “This might literally be the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard in my life,” while others joked, “I am dumber for having watched this.” A third person claimed Wiz’s “Braincells were definitely fried making this,” as a fourth called out irony, “Wiz must have not looked at his album cover…”
With the latter in mind, Khalifa’s newly released album Kush + Orange Juice 2 actually features a round Earth on its cover. The album, which celebrates the 15th anniversary of the original Kush + Orange Juice mixtape, dropped last week (April 18) and includes 23 tracks with musical assistance from Don Toliver, Gunna, Larry June, Juicy J, and more.
