X Reverts To OG Twitter With 100 People Vs. Gorilla Conversation

X, formerly Twitter, has changed a lot over the years, but occasionally, there’s a conversation that restores the feeling. Over the weekend, one person questioned if 100 people could defeat one gorilla, and endless jokes ensued.

“i think 100 ni**as could beat 1 gorilla everybody just gotta be dedicated to the sh*t,” one user wrote on Friday (April 25) with laughing emojis. There were a myriad of responses to this, ranging from serious explanations of how lethal gorillas could be, to suggestions on the type of combatants that should comprise the collective of 100 people, pure delusional confidence from some folks, and humorous depictions of how gorillas would act after handling their enemies.

One X user shared a video of Steve Harvey making money noises during a stand-up show and wrote, “When I’ve just seen 99 ni**as get massacred and I’ve gotta confuse the gorilla I’m just as mad as he is.” Another user shared a clip of Pinky from Next Friday saying, “Sh*t, that ni**a had me scared but I held my own, f**k that” and included the following caption: “Me after the gorilla passes out and dies before he gets to me because he got stabbed by ni**a #96.”

Celebrities even joined the conversation. One fan added GloRilla to the mix, and she gave a very prideful response. “Cause 100 [ni**as] couldn’t do shit wit me,” she wrote. Sexyy Red seemed to believe that the human faction would not stand a chance against a gorilla. She shared a photo of a primate entering the front seat of a vehicle with the caption, “This [is] how the gorilla gon go home after the last person run up.”

Unfortunately, the gorilla conversation wasn’t all fun and games, though, as one user decided to turn it into an assessment of the male ego. “lmao i don’t mean to have discourse this early but this ‘100 men vs. a silverback gorilla’ debate going around right now really highlights the hubris at the heart of toxic masculinity,” a user wrote. They weren’t done either.

“Think about it… the reckless overconfidence, the refusal to respect the forces of nature, and the idea that sheer human willpower can overcome anything,” they added in the thread. “I think it’s less about strength or strategy and more about the fear that admitting defeat, even to something vastly stronger, would somehow threaten their sense of masculinity. because lord knows a silverback gorilla would rock a 100 men lol.”

No matter how close X may get to the Twitter days of old, there’s always someone to rain on the parade, but the conversation remained fun for the most part. We shouldn’t have to say it, but please refrain from testing your mettle against a gorilla next time you’re at the zoo.
