Young Thug has called for the release of fellow rapper Pooh Shiesty from prison, who has been behind bars since 2021 following a series of criminal charges.
On Tuesday (Feb. 18), in a post on X, Thugger shouted out Shiesty, simply writing, “Free poohshiesty,” without further context.
In October 2020, Shiesty, born Lontrell Dennell Williams Jr., was arrested in connection with a shooting incident at a Miami strip club, in which he was accused of firing at a security guard.

In addition, the rapper, best known for his hit “Back in Blood,” faced federal charges in connection with a separate shooting that occurred in the same year.
In that incident, Shiesty was accused of firing a gun at individuals during a robbery in the Miami area.
In 2022, Pooh Shiesty pled guilty to the federal charges and was sentenced to 63 months in prison, or just over five years.

Young Thug’s advocacy for Pooh Shiesty’s freedom was seemingly in response to the not guilty verdict handed down in A$AP Rocky’s own shooting trial earlier that day.
Rocky, who was charged with two counts of felony assault, was exonerated of shooting former A$AP Mob member A$AP Relli during a confrontation in Los Angeles in 2021.
The past year has marked various rap stars dodging significant prison time for alleged crimes committed, most notably Young Thug himself, who was released from jail after accepting a plea deal in his YSL RICO case late last year.
