YSL Mondo has apologized for his comments calling Gunna “a rat.”
During an interview with VladTV, Mondo expressed his regret for being too harsh on the Atlanta rapper, but he maintained that “there are no levels to being a rat.” Mondo then used YSL Woody as an example, calling him a “full-fledged rat, who literally told,” with Mondo insisting that he should have directed his energy at Woody, not Gunna.
However, Mondo stood firm in asserting that Gunna still “folded under pressure.” The YSL associate then explained that he DM’d Gunna recently with hopes of talking out their differences “man to man.” But the DS4Ever artist allegedly told Mondo that he would never forgive him for what he said and would remember him labeling him as “a rat.”
This isn’t the first time that Mondo has spoken out about his feelings toward calling Gunna a snitch. In August 2024, the YSL affiliate offered his opinion on the trial, stating that he was wrong for claiming that Gunna snitched on Young Thug.
“I’m man enough to say I should’ve never spoken about the Gunna situation because technically he didn’t rat,” Mondo typed on Instagram in a now-deleted post. “He just kinda folded under pressure & should’ve just stayed down with his mans till everything was over cause all the originals know he ain’t did nothing wasn’t even around from the beginning.”
“So he wasn’t going to do no real-time regardless. I feel bad cause now a ni**a who literally is a real live rat running around the city getting glorified & smiling like he ain’t just send multiple ni**as to jail. I was so mad & hurt at the same time that my brother going through this sh*t after he turned a lot of ni**as up…That’s the only reason I started talking about Gunna but I’m a real ni**a in real life. Ain’t no mystery in my history. I’m not afraid to say when I was wrong & saying Gunna is a rat was dead a** wrong but I can’t take nothing back. I just got to stand on whaat I said & take whatever comes with it.”
More recently, Gunna’s attorney released a statement regarding his client. The legal mind, Steve Sadow, took to X/Twitter to clear the air surrounding the rapper and rumors that he snitched on Young Thug to gain his freedom.
“I was Gunna’s attorney, but I am NOT speaking on his behalf. This long post is solely to set out the truth. Gunna did NOT cooperate, and did NOTHING and said NOTHING to cause harm to Thug’s case. He spent 8 months in jail and was released in Dec. 2022 after entering an Alford plea,” the lawyer typed. “Gunna’s plea could not and was not used at Thug’s trial and he was never even named as a witness. He received a 5-yr suspended sentence, with no reporting, no travel restrictions, no living restrictions, AND NO PROBATION.”
